Dawkins has several statements that address your concern. For example, note the following quotes from Dawkins:

“Designoid objects look designed, so much so that some people – probably, alas, most people – think that they are designed. These people are wrong... the true explanation – Darwinian natural selection – is very different” (1)

“The feature of living matter that most demands explanation is that it is almost unimaginably complicated in directions that convey a powerful illusion of deliberate design” (2)

“Biology is the study of complicated things that give the appearance of having been designed for a purpose” (3)

“Natural selection is the blind watchmaker, blind because it does not see ahead, does not plan consequences, has no purpose in view. Yet the living results of natural selection overwhelmingly impress us with the appearance of design as if by a master watchmaker, impress us with the illusion of design and planning. The purpose of this book is to resolve this paradox to the satisfaction of the reader, and the purpose of this chapter is further to impress the reader with the power of the illusion of design” (4)
.
“The more statistically improbable a thing is,the less can we believe that it just happened by blind chance.Superficially the obvious alternative to chance is an intelligent Designer. But Charles Darwin showed how it is possible for blind physical forces to mimic the effects of conscious design, and, by operating as acumulative filter of chance variations, to lead eventually to organized and adaptive complexity, to mosquitoes and mammoths, to humans and therefore, indirectly, to books and computers” (5)
Note each case includes a confession of the consistency of your concern followed by a vain effort to mask the obvious. In any situation where the author repeatedly confesses the obvious, then tries to make it fit another paradigm entirely, be very suspicious. Consider chapter 1 of Romans where Paul addresses creation and evolution and gives an exposition for the unwillingness of men to acknowledge the obvious:

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness , because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God [His creation] into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things [evolution]. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.
