There are uranium haloes in the coal. They are poorly developed, having only one or two of the typical concentric rings. Their centers have very little lead, indicating an age of uranium deposition of less than 300,000 years and possibly less than 100,000 years. Combined with the polonium halo data, this would indicate coal formation less than 300,000 years ago, compared to a conventional age of 100 million years.
