The metatarsal is one of the bones of the upper foot in vertebrates. The large metatarsal shown here came from an adult Edmontosaurus. Because of the tremendous weight carried by these bones in Edmontosaurus, they are massive and compact. The metatarsal shown is 43 cm (about 17 inches) in length. The equivalent bone in your foot is about an inch long.
