Dozent in Geographie an der Reading University. Hauptgebiete waren Bodenkunde, Landbewertung, Resourcenabschätzung und Entwicklung von Trockenländern. Führte Universitätsexkursionen in die Marokkanische Sahara 1969, 1971, 1972, und Projektseminare zu Forschungsprojekten über Böden und Landnutzungspotential ungefähr jährlich in Marokko, Algerien, Spanien, Tunesien und/oder Süditalien von 1973-1974 durch. Hatte Forschungsverträge mit dem Natural Environmental Research Council von 1971-1974 über "Studien zu Lösungs-/Deflationsmulden in Kalkgestein in Trockengebieten" und von 1975-1976 zur Untersuchung des "Werts von Langfristprognosen über die Eigenschaften von Trockengebieten". Besondere Verantwortung war mit der Leitung von Projektseminaren verbunden, erwähnenswerterweise allen in Nordafrika und einer Reihe in Europa und der UK; war im Leitungsgremium des Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Centres der University of Reading von 1979-1982.
